GE LOGIQ 3 HDD Problem
April 23, 2014 09:18
Hi!
Logiq 3, bad sectors on HDD (40GB), warnings (5x) in HD tune etc.. freezes the system, reports file missing.
I've installed a new (working, no errors) HDD 120GB, and tried to install SW (Base image).
During cd boot, ghost reports invalid path for ghosterr.txt and etc... exits. Like the ghost doesn't see the drive.
OK, I ghosted the drive on my PC, with exact partitions size like the original - but on Logiq I get a "Reboot and select proper boot device" (!!).
The 120GB HDD is OK in LOGIQ's BIOS, visible, master disk.
If i try with original (40GB) HDD, the bootable ghost workd ok, rewrites the C: etc..
If I put 120GB HDD in my PC, the Scanner is starting and I enter Win2000... so the boot table is OK!
So, what am I doing wrong? :-)
Thanks!!

Ok, thanks guys, Emad & Ahmad.
Strange, cause the 120 HDD is visible in BIOS, so I thought it should work. Any chance of BIOS updating so it accepts larger HDD?

Thank you all for advices,
So:
- if I put 20GB HDD it says "Drive too small"
- if I use 40GB (found one , not 100% good) it's OK. ***
- if I use 120, 160 GB, it says "reboot and select proper boot device.
HDD (Seagate 120 or 160) is OK in BIOS, Primary Master.
CD drive is secondary MAster.
I ghosted the 120GB HDD on my PC, with ORIGINAL partition sizes, (total 40GB), and it stil doesn't work in machine :-)
*** On 40GB HDD the Base SW goes OK, but all the drivers are missing ???? Video, audio, etc..
I waited for 15min, not touching anything (as the manual says) but nothing. MAybe I have the wrong SW??
I'm really into this HDD problem, cause I think it should work if the BIOS sees it, dammit! :-) .. I even edited autoexec.bat to observe what is the line command for gdisk.exe... where it determines the HDD size..to modify it, but without luck :-)
Thanks for your time and help

So, to conclude:
- 40BG HDD works OK, I managed to find one. BEP2 SW is the correct one for my machine, with BEP 3 it doesn't work (drivers missing).
- 120 and 160GB HDD. Hmm, I don't have the time to dig deeper, they don't work. Even if I ghost them on PC.
Logiq BIOS sees it, everything seems to be OK, but.. blinking cursor for several minutes, then reboot and select proper device.
So, easiest way is to use 40GB HDD.
Thanks all for your time and help!

Usually it is not a problem to ghost 120GB as a 80GB. Logiq 3 has rather tricky BIOS and sometimes defect IDE cables or one of the IDE controllers isn't working properly on the motherboard. I would recommend to put in correct Bios settings, put jumper on HDD as a master and CD as a slave and if it doesn't help disable second ide controller in BIOS.

P.S. Check also your CD disks and CD drive - maybe they are faulty...
