How to check if a magnet is quenched... by Pablo Gomez on November 04, 2009

We have a GE compact magnet. It seems to had a quench. We need to
know how to check it and determine if magnet is still usable.
Which process do we have to do to check it??
Do we have to check for gradient coil?? Which is the way to do
it??
Thanks

You must fill the magnet and ramp up the field. If it maintains
the field, the magnet is working. You must perform image quality
tests to verify proper shimming. If it is in spec, then you can
use the system. Also, investigate the cause of the quench. You
may need to attach a magnet monitor if the cause is unknown.
