Minnesota Medical Development, Inc. (MMDI) Awarded an Agreement

MMDI has been awarded an agreement under Novation's New Medical Technology program to supply its Rebound HRD® and Rebound HRD V (hernia repair devices) to their alliance members. Alliance members include acute hospitals and systems, academic medical centers and ambulatory care facilities.

Rebound HRD and HRD V are intended to assist in the repair and/or reinforcement of hernia and soft tissue defects where weaknesses show and where support of nonabsorable material is recommended.

The Rebound HRD and HRD V are self-expanding Nitinol framed/surgical mesh medical devices, which are designed for the laparoscopic repair of inguinal, ventral and incisional hernias. The super-elastic Nitinol frame enables the device to fold and be placed laparoscopically through an access port or small incision. The device then returns to its original shape and can be easily placed over a hernia defect. The procedure reduces operating time by getting rid of of lessening fixation, as well as organizing mesh as the procedure is taking place.

Preliminary use by surgeons of the Rebound HRD V indicates that procedural time can be reduced by as much as 50 percent in some cases.
