Jeff Weisman, RRT, sole proprietor of Weisman Medical Enterprises in Indianapolis, IN, is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with years of experience in the medical field. He began a part-time equipment venture in 1980, J.W. MedSalvage. This developed into full-time sales under Weisman Medical Enterprises in 1994. Jeff's business focuses on preowned respiratory therapy equipment such as Respironics BiPAP Vision ventilitory support systems. Besides the BiPAPs, he also buys and sells all types of ventilators, PB & BIRD IPPB/Respirator machines, air compressors, pulmonary function machines when available, heated humidifiers for ventilators and BiPAP units, percussors, sleep study systems when available, bedside pulse oximeters, hand held pulse oximeters and the very popular Finger or Pocket pulse oximeters besides a whole range of other miscellaneous Respiratory and Cardiology Equipment.

In 1980 Jeff was employed as an assistant director of RT for a mobile management company in a small rural hospital. He began repairing the treatment machines for giving aerosols. A graduate of Vincennes University with an A.A. for Respiratory Therapy, Jeff also attended Puritan Bennett service school in 1980 to learn how to repair AP-5s, PR-2s, MA-1s and more. Later, Jeff continued work as a therapist and also had side work repairing nursing home equipment, and began capitalizing on his talent for finding and selling needed equipment.

"I started out selling anything and everything under the sun," he says--occasionally learning tough lessons of unscrupulous associates or clients, but always maintaining his own integrity and ethics. After moving to full-time sales, Jeff began outsourcing repair needs. He points out that maintaining and selling good preowned equipment can be considered part of the "green" movement, preventing such machines from going to waste in a landfill.

Jeff has a domestic U.S. and international market including India, Egypt, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, and Germany. He has found that language barriers sometimes provide challenges. However Jeff has been successful in developing good workable communication methods through instant messaging and email that have helped his business. For the domestic market, he sells to most of North America, and has developed more contacts through DOTmed. Jeff's company offers several different warranties depending upon the customers' budget and needs, from "as-is" to one year.

The strengths of Weisman Medical Enterprises is that he is almost always available nearly 24/7, compared to larger companies often not accessible on weekends and evenings. Jeff says he also utilizes superior biomedical companies, including Midwest Biomedical Resources and A.M. Biomed of PA for repair work. He also works with associates in other small companies in helping to sell their equipment.

Weisman Medical Enterprises has benefited from extremely hard work in keeping the company going and growing in 2009, often a tough challenge in the current economic slump. Jeff has located and sold equipment that has a fairly high demand. He has found that in this recession hospitals and other health care businesses are often turning to preowned equipment--as they often get a break on the cost of 25 to 45 percent over new equipment. To achieve significant turnaround in a recession is a reflection of Jeff's dedication to customer service--the payoff, he notes, from the long hours and late calls to help clients.

This dedication has led Weisman Medical Enterprises to be on the DOTmed 100 since its inception. His DOTmed 100 status has helped with potential clients. "I love to sell stuff," Jeff says. "DOTmed helps people find me and my equipment which is a great help to my little business." He feels the DOTmed 100 logo enables new clients to trust what Weisman Medical Enterprises is offering in comparison to competitors. The potential clients see that Jeff's peers and clients have dealt positively with Weisman Medical in the past, and that puts new customers at ease for jumping into the fray and working with Jeff's company.
