Cellulite Therapy uses a patented electronic massaging device to manipulate the skin, stimulating circulation of the blood and lymphatic systems to modify fat cells and drain fluid. The massage action also stretches the connective tissue closest to the skin, restoring its suppleness. The shrinkage and loss of elasticity of connective tissue causes the dimpled "orange-peel" effect associated with cellulite.
Depending on a person’s age, heredity, and general health, fat accumulates in one layer of skin or a combination of layers. With a hand-held massager, the cellulite therapy technician can specifically target common problem areas such as the lower stomach, hips, thighs, and buttocks.
Each prospective Cellulite Therapy patient is evaluated by one of the practice’s five board-certified plastic surgeons. Photographs and measurements are taken throughout the treatment to monitor individual progress.
Cellulite therapy takes a total body approach, and we have established guidelines that are important to the patient’s overall success," To begin treatment, patients must be within 20 pounds of their ideal weight. We closely monitor a patient’s water intake (four pints a day is suggested) and encourage healthy eating habits, combined with a program of gentle aerobic exercise three times a week."
A typical course of treatment lasts from 15 to 20 sessions, but many patients see improvement within the first nine or ten visits. Maintenance sessions may be needed, usually every 4-6 weeks.
