While all light based and laser devices use only the light energy (blocking the heat), the SpectraClear uses its patented LHE technology combining Light and Heat to coagulate the hair follicle. About 85% of the coagulation is done by Heat while the remaining 15% is Light. To penetrate the hair follicle and coagulate the bulb, the SpectraClear optimizes the following three parameters: wavelength, spot size and pulse duration.

The hair follicle can only be destroyed while it is in the anagen phase of growth (still growing). Yet only about 10%-30% of your hair is in this stage at any given time. SpectraClear delivers a deeply penetrating green-yellow wavelength light to activate a photo thermal reaction in the porphyrin molecules, causing the release of free oxygen to destroy P. Acnes bacteria. Heat simultaneously delivered to the skin accelerates the photo thermal reaction and bacteria destruction. The additional red wavelength light activates the porphyrin to reduce the inflammation common to acne lesions.
