The Image Checker M5000 System is the first FDA-approved computer-aided detection (CAD) system for full-view diagnostic and screening mammograms. It is a computer system that identifies and marks regions of interest (ROIs) on routine diagnostic and screening mammograms that may warrant a second review by a radiologist. Its purpose is to help minimize observational oversights.
It is important to note that the Image Checker 5000 is not a diagnostic device; radiologists can interpret only original mammograms. By design, the system provides low-resolution images on its monitors, which preludes its use for diagnostic interpretation.
This particular unit has the software version 5.2. The Image Checker DM now accepts images from additional digital mammography vendors. The list now includes GE Medical Systems, Fischer Imaging, and Hologic, Inc.
In addition the, the Image Checker DM now supports universal CAD results; the system can send images and CAD results to virtually any DICOM-compliant workstation and/or archive, allowing CAD results to be displayed, stored, and managed universally.
This unit is an Image Checker DM that supports both analog (film) and digital mammograms simultaneously. It provides up to four digital ports and enables you to load up to twenty film cases at a time.
The processing unit is an integrated kiosk device consisting of a cart and a flat-panel, touchscreen monitor. Inside the Image Checker cart is a dual-processor computer that performs the image processing, a UPS (uninterruptable power supply), and a film scanner, which digitizes the mammogram films.
