Its sturdy construction with the object sledge and holder forming one compact unit is backed up by a feed mechanism which is both shock- and dustproof. It is not only easy to use, it boasts high safety standards with a sledge locking device. The Leica SM2400 Base Sledge Microtome is a robust microtome designed for a variety of biomedical and industrial sectioning applications.In design and technology the instrument corresponds 100 % to the former Leitz 1400 Sledge Microtome.
The instrument features a proven reliable and accurate sledge movement on an easy-to-clean and easy-to-maintain sledge guiding system. The specimen holder and the microtome body are made of one single metal block for extra stability.The knife holder can be declined in an angle of up to 30 degrees to perform special sectioning techniques. Different knife types for different sectioning requirements can be used.The instrument is designed for manual operation only.
