Letter From the Editor

Let Your Blood Flow

Just in time for Halloween we have a few gory items about how to improve angioplasty. New techniques suction out blood clots and even enter through the wrist in an effort to prevent a second heart attack.

And if you read the story in this week's DOTmed News about the new artificial heart technology from several Texas research institutions, you'll note that it has no pulse. The design uses two continuous flow pumps to help prevent mechanical fatigue. Why didn't Mother Nature think of that?

But enough about heart attacks, this is international stroke week. Our attention is also rightly focused on detection, prevention and treatment of so-called "brain attacks." Read about it in DOTmed News, along with companies, products, breakthroughs, and business trends affecting the medical technology sectors.

See you tomorrow!
