Everybody's Getting Into the Act
This week's DOTmed News includes stories about top Internet and IT companies entering or expanding their reach in the health sector.
Intel has seen fit to enter healthcare with its remote system to monitor patients at home. Yahoo! has teamed with HealthGrades on a provider rating program. And Google is using its powerful search data to track flu outbreaks. The computer virus has come full circle.
Google and three other firms have also been chosen by Medicare to provide personal electronic medical records services.
Leading companies want to participate in the healthcare sector because it's one of the least impacted by the current economic downturn, although the situation affects many companies, providers, and most urgently, patients.
See you tomorrow.
