Letter From the Editor

A Dose of Reality

Today's DOTmed News provides some foreboding reports on the real impact of the economy on the health care sector in the U.S.

We spoke with the experts at Challenger, Gray & Christmas who found that, while health care is doing better than most industries given the economy, it ranks about in the middle in terms of job loss for 2008. Interestingly, CEO turnover was higher in health care organizations than in any other sector.

Looking West for what's next, California hospitals report an extremely dramatic economic impact as people lose their job-linked health insurance and hospitals strain to care for them. The report is notable for its clarity, brevity and gravity.

Stay tuned to this site for a unique mix of exclusive reports and headlines in health care, updated daily.

See you tomorrow.
