It's a HIT

It was exciting to hear the president mention health IT the other day in discussing worthwhile investments for federal dollars as part of the stimulus plan. Health information technology is looked to as a potential efficiency tool to reduce needless rework of data entry, as well as repetition of tests. While the final version of the stimulus bill may shift a few deadlines for compliance and tweak the allocation, health IT is nevertheless having its 15 minutes of fame. (Watch for the March 2009 issue of DOTmed Business News, devoted to health information and digital technologies.)
