Letter From the Editor

Systems Engineering

I just got back from the World Health Congress in Washington, a gathering of executives from hospitals, health systems, health plans, pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and government. Plenty of brilliant people with great insight, strategies, and programs to improve health care.

But the big question is to what degree the nation will adopt a federalized system. Where are we going with reform? Will it be a public, private or hybrid solution? How will it work?

The fact is, America has no health care system. A system is an orderly entity comprised of interdependent elements. It is hard to imagine going from what we have now to that.

While the outcome is unknown, read DOTmed News for coverage of this week's gathering. And we can all try to read the tea leaves together.

See you tomorrow.
