Letter From the Editor

We Have Met the Enemy...

When SARS manifested itself in 2003 the world was panicked. The terrifying disease spread like wildfire only to die down just as quickly. Next a strain of bird flu materialized, spread from birds to people, but not more widely from people to people. Millions died. Millions of birds.

Another bullet dodged, at least for humans. But we may be running out of luck as a so-called swine flu now circumnavigates the globe, spread not from pigs or birds at all, but from people to people.

And so we are our own worst enemy in the spread of the disease as well as its creation, caused by our agricultural practices.

Stay tuned to DOTmed News as we keep you posted on the story.

See you tomorrow.
