Letter From the Editor

ITSN Is Here

The medical technology sector is abuzz with the merger of three giant technical service and R&D companies, Sonora, Echoserve and Barrington. These former niche players are joining forces with investors to create a new service delivery model for medical equipment, the Integrated Technical Services Network (ITSN).

OK, I totally made that up. But somebody had to. Because that is exactly what is going on. Investors have come to see the "value proposition" in the medical equipment aftermarket.

Investors are simply responding to health care providers' priorities for an economical way to operate while ensuring the highest level of R&D and service. I wouldn't be surprised to see more ITSNs--or whatever you call them--in the future.

See you tomorrow.
