AAEM holds 44th Annual Meeting

Allergies, Inflammation and Autoimmunity Are Subjects of AAEM Conference

by Becky Jacoby, Reporter
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, food allergy statistics for the past decade have increased nearly 25 percent in preschool children and nearly 20 percent for school-age children. Asthma's prevalence has risen over 160 percent for the same age group and over the same time period. Further, arthritis and its debilitating limitations presently affect more than 19 million adults. As healthcare consumers, we expect our physicians to know about diagnosing and treating these foreboding conditions.

From October 29 through November 1, in Phoenix, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) will hold its 44th Annual Meeting to discuss and learn about these rising chronic diseases of allergies, asthma and arthritis. This year's meeting is comprised of lectures on the impact of the environment on inflammation and the immune system. Subjects covered will be celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, chemicals and immunity. Workshops on Prolotherapy and LDA Immunotherapy will also be offered. The exhibit hall will be open from Oct 29-31.

The AAEM, founded in 1965, expands the knowledge of interactions between people and their environment as reflects in their total health.
