TeraRecon showcases iNtuition at the 10th International Symposium on Virtual Colonoscopy
October 27, 2009
San Mateo, CA - TeraRecon, Inc. (www.terarecon.com), a leader in advanced visualization and decision support solutions for medical imaging, has announced new innovations for Aquarius iNtuition™ related to advanced CT Colonography, showcased at 10th International Symposium on Virtual Colonoscopy held October 26-28, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA.
Clinicians will attend a one day plenary session and learn from renowned leaders who routinely utilize Virtual Colonoscopy in their practices. One of the highlights of the symposium will be a Workstation Face-off where vendors' newest, and often beta versions, of Virtual Colonoscopy solutions are compared and contrasted real-time by expert physicians. TeraRecon will meet these challenges using the "flythrough" feature of the company's flagship Aquarius iNtuition solution, which provides "anytime, anywhere" access to advanced visualization and decision support for any number of users via the company's industry-leading client-server technology.
iNtuition features automated tools that perform colon segmentation and establish a centerline for endoscopic evaluation. Also included is synchronization of prone and supine studies, 100% visualization verification, 360 degree flat view presentation and one click polyp identification to complete the comprehensive package. An optional Spherefinder module can automatically highlight regions of potential interest. The clinical application also supports optional Computer Assisted Detection (CAD) software, from MedicSightTM that automatically identifies colon polyps and provides the clinical end-user with the ability to perform "concurrent" or "secondary reads" that can aid in the interpretation process.
A powerful integrated CRADS-compliant reporting feature completes the interpretation workflow, producing reports which can be stored as DICOM objects and distributed to PACS.
In addition, attendees have the opportunity to attend an intensive 2-day, 50-case hands-on training course at the American College of Radiology Education Center. Since TeraRecon is a collaborative partner, attendees can utilize the newest version of iNtuition to receive their ACR Certificate of Proficiency.
TeraRecon president & CEO, Robert Taylor, Ph.D said "With our best-in-class client-server iNtuition technology, we have the ability to place CT Colonography interpretation tools at the fingertips of the physicians who are tasked with achieving the optimal clinical diagnosis, and the optimal therapy plan. iNtuition can even be integrated with the electronic medical record, achieving a breakthrough in communication and efficiency which we believe will directly translate to improved patient care at a lower cost."
