Sg2 Announces Its INSIGHT System to Improve Hospitals' Clinical Performance and Bottom Line Results

Skokie, IL - The health care industry is undergoing extreme financial challenges-payment reform, reimbursement changes and a shift of patient services to the outpatient setting have implications for all providers. To help hospitals and health systems become high-performing organizations to succeed in this new environment, Sg2, a future-focused health care solutions company, has introduced a new clinical performance management system-Sg2 INSIGHT™.

INSIGHT is an industry-first solution that measures performance not only at the hospital level, but across the full patient continuum, including community-based, acute, and recovery and rehabilitation care settings. INSIGHT provides institutions with a proprietary Sg2 Value Index score, so they can quickly evaluate how well the system is performing based on a comparative database of several hundred institutions of varying sizes in addition to Sg2's leading practice benchmarks.

Sg2 Chairman Michael Sachs says, "Health care is awash in metrics and benchmarks, but INSIGHT is the only system that tracks performance and provides specific improvement recommendations across the full patient care continuum. As the shift to outpatient services threatens many organizations' bottom lines, hospital executives must turn their attention toward clinical performance management strategies and integration across all sites of care."

Sg2's team of seasoned health care experts-including MDs, RNs, PhDs and former hospital executives-developed INSIGHT to support organizations in pinpointing where costs are high and efficiencies are low. INSIGHT is integrated with the hospital's IT system, which allows for direct data uploading and reporting. Performance is evaluated across a broad expanse of metrics that cover operations, finance, clinical outcomes, physician/staff and market share.

Rick Nevers, Vice President of Planning and Marketing at Aspirus health system in Wausau, WI, comments, "With ongoing regulatory pressures and quality demands, one of the challenges we are facing is determining which performance metrics we should be measuring and tracking. We've partnered with Sg2 to help us identify and focus on the vital performance indicators from the trivial many, and to become a more metric-driven organization. Our goal is to deliver the most operationally efficient, cost-effective care to our patients and Sg2 is a key part of that initiative."

INSIGHT systems are available at the enterprise (organization-wide) level and for 4 key service lines: cancer, cardiovascular, orthopedics and neurosciences. INSIGHT takes data reporting and performance management to the next level-providing powerful expert analysis, specific improvement opportunities and strategic recommendations to effect positive change.
