DOTmed discusses the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) program for public awareness with ASTRO's assistant director of communications, Beth Bukata.

In this segment, Bukata relates how ASTRO has been developing radiation oncology resources for both the caregiver and the patient since the early 2000s. The organization has conducted focus groups and called upon the ASTRO's membership and the greater community of radiation oncology to help fund and provide content for patient brochures, an online information center, and other forms of guidance for patients struggling with their diagnosis and practitioners whose ultimate job is to not only to provide cancer treatment for the patient, but to also inform them about their disease and the options available to them.
