Philips Respironics receives 14th Zenith Award for outstanding service to the respiratory care community

New Orleans, LA. - Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHIA) today announced it is one of six companies to earn the American Association for Respiratory Care's (AARC) coveted Zenith Award. The 2012 award was presented Nov. 10 at the 58th International Respiratory Congress in New Orleans, LA. Nearly 52,000 AARC members, comprised of clinicians and researchers who use respiratory care equipment, devices and pharmaceutical products, selected the winners from more than 400 suppliers. This is the 14th time that Philips Respironics has been recognized by the AARC for contributions to the respiratory community.

"We are very proud to receive our 14th Zenith Award. Knowing that it is the 'people's choice' award of the respiratory care profession makes this award especially meaningful," said Randall Whitfield, general manager, Hospital Respiratory Care, for Philips Healthcare. "Our commitment to quality and to service to the respiratory care industry is unwavering. Developing and delivering innovative solutions and outstanding service to both the hospital and the home setting is a priority at Philips."

Philips Respironics provides a wide variety of complementary product offerings to the Respiratory profession, including invasive and noninvasive ventilation and a full portfolio of stationary and portable oxygen products as well as products for respiratory drug delivery.

AARC established its prestigious awards program in 1989 to honor respiratory care product and service providers who exemplify outstanding service to the respiratory care community. The recipients are recognized for the quality of their equipment and/or supplies, accessibility and helpfulness of their sales personnel, responsiveness, service record, truth in advertising and their support of the respiratory care profession.

The AARC, a professional membership association of respiratory therapists, focuses primarily on respiratory therapy education and research. Its goals are to ensure that respiratory patients receive safe and effective care from qualified professionals and to benefit respiratory health care providers. The Association continues to advocate, on behalf of pulmonary patients, for appropriate access to respiratory services provided by qualified professionals.
