OAK BROOK, Ill - The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research & Education (R&E) Foundation awarded the 2014 Carestream Health/RSNA Scholar Grant to Harris Iqbal Sair, M.D. The grant is made possible by Carestream Health's support of the RSNA R&E Foundation.

The Carestream Health/RSNA Research Scholar Grant is designed for emerging leaders in radiology research. This career development award develops young faculty into independent investigators and prepares them for NIH funding. The grant award is $75,000 per year for a two-year study.

Harris Iqbal Sair, M.D., The Johns Hopkins University, aims to tackle the technical challenges of successfully extracting language networks at rest in patients with brain tumors using rs-fMRI, determine whether possible new information gained from this technique may alter surgical approach, and determine whether using this technique can improve patient outcome by better demonstrating language areas compared to the traditional method.

The RSNA R&E Foundation is awarding a total of 94 grants in 2014 valued at over $3.6 million. "The R&E Foundation is grateful for Carestream Health's generosity in supporting the innovative research conducted by these inspiring investigators." said James P. Borgstede, M.D., Chair of the RSNA R&E Foundation Board of Trustees.
