BEST, THE NETHERLANDS - November, 2014 - Leading Medical Imaging component manufacturer Smit Röntgen, a Philips brand, is pleased to announce to become the first EOS GmbH service provider for the refractory metal pure Tungsten. By joining forces with the technology and market leader for designdriven Additive Manufacturing solutions, Smit Röntgen continues to redefine the use of Powder Bed Laser Melting for large volume Additive Manufacturing of pure Tungsten products.

Smit Röntgen and EOS GmbH have collaborated for numerous years to develop extensive know-how on
every step of the process by feeding back acquired knowledge. The collaboration with EOS GmbH ultimately resulted in a specifically designed version of the EOS M280 which has been installed and is now operational. The M280 has been made suitable for mass-producing high accuracy parts and is known for its high level of beam quality and performance stability. "This equipment and the extensive process knowledge developed, lifts Additive Manufacturing to a new level of maturity," explains Harry Kleijnen Head of Development Smit Röntgen.

Smit Röntgen strives to create added value for the Metal Additive Manufacturing industry by remaining highly focused on innovative product development. By expanding the manufacturing capacity of 3D printed pure Tungsten products, Smit Röntgen strengthens its position to meet growing demand and explore markets.
