Baptist Health Jacksonville is standardizing on the Qvera Interface Engine Enterprise Edition (QIE) to facilitate interoperability (data exchange) between more than 10 different EMR and practice management platforms across a network that includes 25 physician groups and five hospitals.
Baptist Health utilizes QIE to easily exchange data between its Ambulatory, Hospital and Acute Care Healthcare IT Systems (HIT) that include Allscripts TouchWorks, GE Centricity Practice Solutions, GE Centricity Group Management, NextGen Ambulatory EHR, Siemens MedSeries4 and Cerner Millennium. Baptist Health has also integrated QIE with its IBM Master Data Management and EMPI (Enterprise master patient index) solutions as well as their Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems Cerner Clinical Exchange Platform and DB Motion. Baptist Health Jacksonville has been using QIE to meet interoperability needs since 2012.
Utilizing the Qvera Interface Engine, patients are able to have a single point of connection and a unified experience with the Baptist Connect patient portal which is powered by Influence Health (formerly MedSeek). QIE eliminates the need to maintain separate patient portals for each of the ambulatory care centers by normalizing the data from the disparate HIT systems and consolidating it into a single enterprise patient portal.
“We are one of the only health systems that has been able to pull off this level of integration with an enterprise patient portal,” said Seth McCracken, IT director at Baptist Health Jacksonville. “There is no way we could have done that without QIE.”
Baptist Health Jacksonville is now evaluating using QIE to replace existing technology for its lab and radiology report interfaces.
A contributing factor for expanding the licensing contract with Qvera was product training and support.
