Philips IntelliSpace Portal 8.0
This morning at RSNA, Philips Healthcare announced the latest version of its IntelliSpace Portal, version 8.0.

The advanced data sharing, analytics and visualization platform helps radiologists detect, diagnose and follow-up on cancer treatment. The new version is aimed at addressing the economic toll placed on providers while ensuring the best diagnostics for the growing patient population.

Dr. Jerome Galbrun, senior marketing director, Philips Healthcare ICAP, told HCB News that the original version of the software was released in 2010.

That version emphasized vascular imaging and allowing the surgeon to visualize the right anatomical elements at the right time for their operation. According to Galbrun, the new version of IntelliSpace Portal brings those benefits to analyzing and understanding cancer treatment and tumor growth.

The portal helps clinicians diagnose and measure disease states and communicate across modalities, with one efficient, automated, and guided workflow. According to Galbrun, It also allows providers to collaborate with other physicians on the client server so they can get a second opinion and securely obtain consultation remotely.

“Advances in digital health technology now allow us to integrate clinical data from multiple modalities and sources and make that data meaningful and quickly accessible to radiologists." said Jeroen Tas, CEO, Healthcare Informatics Solutions and Services for Philips, in a statement. "Innovations like the new 3-D rendering of tumors in IntelliSpace Portal 8.0 can change the trajectory of a cancer patient’s journey to support the best path to treatment.”

Through special tracking algorithms developed in partnership with leading hospitals, the software is capable of visualizing progress with tumor ablation or chemo treatment without requiring additional biopsies and other costly diagnostics.

The full range of capabilities of IntelliSpace Portal 8.0 range from lung nodule CT risk assessment applications to MR cardiac quantitative mapping for the entire cardiac workflow. It will also assist in complying with Meaningful Use legislation in the U.S. by empowering radiologists to update EMRs easily and share patient information with various organizations.
