NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Commonwealth Health CyberKnife recently had an open house to welcome physicians, hospital executives, and community members to the newly opened center. The event was a success and over 80 people were in attendance to help celebrate.

Commonwealth Health CyberKnife, a Department of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, is a joint venture between Alliance Oncology, a division of Alliance Healthcare Services, and Community Health Systems.

The physician team and staff from Commonwealth Health CyberKnife and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, and members of Alliance Oncology and Community Health Systems leadership teams, were on hand to help commemorate the opening.

After welcoming remarks from Rich Newell, Chief Executive Officer for Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, guests were taken on small group tours of the center to see the state-of-the-art CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System, exam rooms, consultation and treatment planning areas, and more. Commonwealth Health CyberKnife radiation oncologists Michael Lambo M.D., FACRO, John Lamond M.D., and Suman Tawari, M.D. were on hand to answer questions and meet with guests.

“The physician team at Commonwealth Health CyberKnife is very excited to offer CyberKnife technology to the patients of this region,” said Dr. John Lamond, Medical Director at Commonwealth Health CyberKnife. “CyberKnife is clinically proven to be an effective cancer treatment option for patients who have inoperable tumors and can reduce treatment risks for those with surgically complex tumors. It gives new options for those who wish to avoid the challenges of surgery.”

Commonwealth Health CyberKnife treats early-stage, recurring, and advanced cancer using the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System, one of the most advanced cancer treatment options available. CyberKnife is a noninvasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body, including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney. The treatment delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with extreme accuracy in five or fewer outpatient procedures. Other CyberKnife patient benefits include no anesthesia or hospitalization, minimal radiation exposure to healthy tissue, little to no recovery time, and immediate return to daily activities.

Conveniently located two minutes from the Armand Hammer Boulevard exit of Route 422, Commonwealth Health CyberKnife offers innovative technology in a community hospital setting and serves patients locally and throughout the greater Southeast Pennsylvania region, including Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Phoenixville Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, and Jennersville Regional Hospital.
