Last August the European Society of Radiology (ESR) was pleased to announce that the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) would also become the official congress of the European Society for Hybrid, Molecular and Translational Imaging (ESHIMT), the fastest growing medical community for hybrid imaging in Europe, which was inaugurated in 2016 and already boasts more than 1,500 members. Since then, the ESR has seen a steady rise in registrations and the highest number of pre-registrations ever from nuclear medicine physicians.

In the last few years, hybrid imaging has consistently been a key theme at the ESR's annual meeting and, through continued and even extended cooperation with ESHIMT, participants can expect to enjoy a full programme with everything there is to know about this topic at ECR 2019. From high-quality lectures and speakers to a technical exhibition that will feature more hybrid imaging exhibitors than ever before, the meeting will provide educational, social and business opportunities for all.

In light of the promising pre-registration figures and the stunning success of ESHIMT's first virtual congress in late October, the ESR recently decided to repay its hybrid imaging community for their support by providing free ECR 2019 registration to any nuclear medicine physicians, who are an ESR or ESHIMT member and signed up for the virtual congress CHILI.

The ECR is the annual meeting of the European Society of Radiology (ESR), which represents more than 83,000 members worldwide, the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) and the European Society for Hybrid, Molecular and Translational Imaging (ESHIMT). The ECR is one of the largest medical congresses in the world, attracting more than 28,000 congress participants. With 300 companies exhibiting across more than 26,000m², its exhibition is also one of the largest medical exhibitions in Europe.

ECR 2019, which marks the congress' 25th anniversary in Vienna, will take place from February 27 – March 3.
