Prestige Medical Imaging (PMI) has expanded its product portfolio to include Hitachi Healthcare CT, ultrasound and MR imaging systems.

A statement from the independent service organization announcing the partnership points to Hitachi's open and wide-bore MR solutions, automated 3D breast ultrasound technology, and CT systems offering "next-generation dose reduction capabilities, the benefits of patient accommodation attributes and premium-tier high workflow."

The company's website currently lists several Hitachi modalities on its "Equipment" page.

“Our strategy is to expand our product offerings with an emphasis on state-of-the-art technology to address specific market needs," said Bill Haussmann, CEO for Prestige Medical Imaging. "PMI’s partnership with Hitachi Healthcare allows us to deliver a variety of solutions that meet the procurement needs of our clients."

PMI's existing product portfolio includes a wide range of X-ray equipment from Carestream, Fujifilm and other OEMs. In February, the company expanded into the ultrasound, MR and analytical software space through partnerships with Esaote and Glassbeam.

The company is the official radiology provider for several professional sports teams, such as the NBA's Miami Heat and the NHL's New York Islanders, and also serves hospitals, orthopedics, imaging groups, chiropractors, podiatrists and veterinarians. Last December, PMI announced its one thousandth DR installation.

In March, the healthcare supply chain GPO Intalere announced an agreement with Hitachi Healthcare Americas offering its members negotiated pricing on ultrasound and open MR systems.

Hitachi declined to comment.

PMI did not immediately returned requests for comment.
