DMS Imaging Receives ACR Accreditation for Digital Mammography Mobile Servicesby Robert Garment, Director of Marketing
DMS Imaging, a member of DMS Health Group located in Fargo, North Dakota, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in digital mammography mobile services as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology. DMS Imaging, in partnership with rural and urban hospitals, currently provides digital mammography mobile services to women in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, with services scheduled to expand to other portions of these states as well as into South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
The ACR, headquartered in Reston, VA, awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the service. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report. The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services. The DMS Health Group, an operating company of Otter Tail Corporation, runs two primary business units, DMS Imaging and DMS Health Technologies. DMS Imaging provides mobile, portable, interim and fixed-site diagnostic imaging services across the United States. DMS Health Technologies sells and services diagnostic imaging and patient monitoring equipment. For more information about the DMS Health Group, visit www.dmshg.com.
