Carestream Health Takes Home Innovation Award at China International Industry Fair

by Barbara Kram, Editor
SHANGHAI - The KODAK Point-of-Care CR-ITX 550 System, from Carestream Health, Inc., has been awarded the prestigious "Technological Innovation Award" at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF). An expert panel of judges from the conference-which serves as one of China's most prominent showcases for cutting-edge technology-cited the product's unique design and outstanding functionality in its decision.

"Our point-of-care computed radiography (CR) systems are gaining a significant foothold in the marketplace, proving their value proven time and time again," said Eileen Heizyk, Carestream Health's Worldwide Marketing Manager, Digital Capture Solutions. "In addition to this great award, we are proud of our systems' ability to aide medical professionals and victims of the tragic earthquake that struck China earlier this year, and for their role helping athletes at the Beijing Olympic Games as part of the Olympic Polyclinic."

The KODAK Point-of-Care CR-ITX 550 System integrates a powerful CR reader with a portable x-ray unit to create a self-contained mobile imaging package. Carestream Health donated two of these systems to the Red Cross Society of China to provide diagnostic x-ray exams to victims of the earthquake in southwestern China's Sichuan Province. The systems were used to provide diagnosis services to the injured and enabled one of the first teleradiology connections from the Sichuan Huaxi Hospital-resulting in remote medical consultations on more than 600 patient cases. The systems' utility was lauded by the Red Cross Society and healthcare providers who used them in the disaster recovery effort.
