by Becky Jacoby, Reporter
The Capitol City will host the Medical Device Manufacturers Association 2009 Annual Meeting from June 1-3. Many of healthcare's most influential decision-makers will be in attendance: medical device industry leaders, lawmakers and government officials.

Joe Kiani, Chairman and CEO of Masimo Corporation urges anyone involved in the medical device industry to attend. He said, "The meeting and congressional fly-in provide a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to directly engage policymakers on Capitol Hill."

The opening reception begins with an address from Dr. Mark McClellan, former CMS Administrator now with the Brookings Institution. General session speakers include distinguished professionals such as Andrew Hirshfeld, Acting Deputy Commissioner for Patent Examination Policy at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Topics cover healthcare reform, how to improve the U.S. patent system, compliance programs and international opportunities.

Attendees can listen to panel discussions led by experts from industry, government, the FDA, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
