DOTmed User Completes Boston Marathon

by Joan Trombetti, Writer

Bob Gaw, Sr, 51, owner of PRN, Inc., Fall River, MA, was among the sea of competitors at the 113th Boston Marathon held last Friday. He finished-- and lived to tell about-- the grueling test of fitness.

"I made it 26.2 miles...still smiling on the outside but legs and feet were hurting pretty good," Gaw said. "I decided to do the race a year ago, after attending a Red Sox game with my son on Patriots Day. I observed runners struggling to the finish line and I told him I was going to do it next year. I did not tell many people because after telling a few, they all said -- Are you crazy?"

As fit as Gaw is, he estimates that he outweighs two elite athletes put together. The men's champion this year is Deriba Merga, Ethiopia, 2:08:42; the women's winner is Salina Kosgei, Kenya, 2:32:16.

Congratulations, Bob. And always remember: It's the taking part.
