Malvern, Pa. -- Gail Latimer, MSN, RN, FACHE, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Siemens Healthcare has been selected by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) as one of the 2009 new Fellows. This prestigious honor will be bestowed upon her, along with 98 other nurse leaders, during the Academy's 36th Annual Meeting & Conference in Atlanta, Ga., November 7.

The Academy's 1,500 Fellows are nursing leaders in education, management, practice and research, and include nursing executives, hospital chief executives, policy makers, university presidents, among others. Latimer is one of only a handful of nurses in AAN history from a healthcare solutions provider to be offered this Fellowship and joins Siemens Rosemary Kennedy, RN, MBA, CNIO, who achieved this milestone in 2008.

Latimer's invitation to Fellowship recognizes her accomplishments within the nursing profession and affords Siemens the opportunity to share ideas and help develop new strategies for nurses to drive the transformation of America's healthcare system. She was nominated for this honor by two current Academy Fellows and was selected by the Academy's 15-member Fellow Selection Committee. Selection criteria included evidence of significant contributions to nursing and healthcare and are based, in part, on the extent to which nominees'nursing careers influence health policies for the benefit of all Americans.
