Colposcope
A colposcope is a type of medical equipment used to examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of disease. It is similar to a microscope, but it has a higher magnification and a light source that allows the doctor to see the tissue in greater detail. The colposcope is used to diagnose and treat cervical and other gynecologic cancers. It is also used to monitor the progress of treatment.
Colposcopes are manufactured by a variety of companies, including Olympus, Leica, and Zeiss. Prices range from around $2,000 to $30,000, depending on the features and quality of the equipment. Some models have digital imaging capabilities, allowing the doctor to take pictures of the tissue for further review.
