Carestream Health earned an award from business research group Frost & Sullivan for its X-ray upgrade kit, the company announced Wednesday.

Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream received the 2010 European Digital Radiography New Product Innovation Award for its kit, called DRX-1 System, launched last year.

The kit is a cassette-sized wireless detector panel that fits into normal cassette buckies, letting radiologists "convert" analog or computed radiography into direct radiography systems.

"Recognition of the introduction of the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System acknowledges our continuing advances in digital imaging technology," Carestream sales manager Tony Graule said in a statement. "This innovation sets us apart from other companies because the DRX-1 is designed to solve the workflow and productivity challenges faced by health care providers every day."
