Spring show season in full swing: SIIM & SNM previews

It seems like only yesterday I was in North Carolina attending AAMI 2012 Conference & Expo. It seems that way, because I was.

But starting tomorrow, DOTmed is off again to attend SIIM 2012 in Orlando. Then on Saturday, we're headed to SNM 2012 in Miami.

I explained earlier this week what a great show AAMI was. I'm equally excited for SIIM and SNM.

For those who don't know about SIIM, it's a show about imaging informatics, or the processing, management, display and transmission of medical images, as well as related subjects. The field covers everything from PACS and image-enabled EHRs to speech recognition and CAD programs.

DOTmed's Susan Minotillo will be attending SIIM. I'll share her first impressions of the show on Friday.

SNM is always in a fun spot. This year it's in South Beach, which is the scene of the movie "The Bird Cage." If any of you have seen Robin Williams and Nathan Lane in it, you know the attendees will have a great time.

Don Bogutski, of Diagnostix Plus, turned me onto SNM nearly 20 years ago (when Don was only 85 years old), and I've been going back ever since.

As near as I can tell, the molecular imaging segment is growing faster than the rest of the industry, so it should be a busy meeting.

There are dozens of DOTmed advertisers exhibiting at SIIM and SNM, and we hope to meet with as many as we can. DOTmed News reporter Loren Bonner, Lisa Bradley, Ron Minor and I will all be at SNM, so be sure to say hello if you see us.

Of course, while at SNM, I'm also looking forward to spending some quality time at a little Cuban restaurant I know about in South Beach...
