Imaging Equipment Finds Non-Medical Use
June 20, 2006
You are very likely to find Konica Minolta's advanced Regius 190 computed radiography (CR) system in hospitals and clinics throughout the UK, but never before has one been installed in such a location.
The National Conservation Centre cares for National Museums Liverpool's huge and diverse collections. Using science shows how objects were made and how they can be conserved for the future. Radiography (x-rays) play a major part in this work and the Konica Minolta Regius 190 will be used to digitise x-ray images in order that they can be displayed electronically, as opposed to viewing on x-ray film.
This vibrant and contemporary gallery explores the memories that objects contain.
Visitors can experience objects in virtual reality with ground-breaking technology, see how lasers are used to remove dirt that damages our objects, have a go at rebuilding a broken statue or a Roman bowl and find out how an Egyptian mummy can be respectfully explored - without being touched.
