Siemens Healthcare has been recognized with the 2013 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Company of the Year, for its work in the molecular imaging market, the company announced this week.
Frost & Sullivan bestows the award on leading companies that demonstrate product innovation and growth strategies that result in market success. Siemens earned the award through its slew of innovative releases in both PET and SPECT.
"Having recognized many years ago that the future of medical imaging would hinge on more advanced and efficient hybrid imaging modalities, Siemens Healthcare has built a legacy of industry firsts," said Frost & Sullivan Industry Principal Nadim Michel Daher in a release. "Today, as the result of this continuous technology and product advancement, Siemens Healthcare is leading the way in the imaging industry with regard to each of the SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MR imaging modalities."
Siemens was also acknowledged for its work with radiopharmaceuticals, particularly amyloid imaging agents for the evaluation of Alzheimer's and other cognitive diseases. Siemens' PETNET Solutions allows customers to use the same company for equipment as well as radiopharmaceutical distribution.
Daher noted that the company's commitment to a "multi-specialty approach," which allows current and prospective customers to make "more collaborative equipment purchases, will ensure Siemens' success in the future as well.
"This multi-specialty approach to imaging might still be an emerging best practice used by avant-garde providers today, but it is slated to become the new standard of care for providers," said Daher. "Siemens' molecular imaging customers will be better equipped during this reshaping of the clinical and business models for molecular imaging."
Besides "avant-garde" providers, Siemens prides itself on also providing entry-level products and modular molecular imaging options that allow facilities to phase adoption of expensive equipment.
Last year, GenPath won the North American Clinical Diagnostics Company of the Year Award and Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences won the Company of the Year Award 2012 North American Enterprise Imaging Informatics.
