For more than 100 years, the community has supported Bloomington Hospital, and in turn the hospital has supported its community with quality medical care, wellness programs and vital health care services. As the non-profit community hospital for Monroe County and surrounding areas, Bloomington Hospital embraces its role as the health care provider of choice for south central Indiana.
Student Placement Center
Shadowing and internship placements are designed to assist individuals in learning more about career opportunities, fulfill program requirements for fieldwork, and overall, increase the knowledge for individuals pursing a health care career. Bloomington Hospital has been advancing medicine and enhancing health for a century and we recognize that in our next century, current students are the future leaders in healthcare in South Central Indiana.
Shadowing
Shadowing is an observational experience for a period of five days or less. This experience allows you to observe a healthcare professional in his/her work setting and ask them career related questions. You will not be able to perform any patient care related duties-just watch and ask questions for a short period of time.
Internship
An Internship is a limited "hands-on" or "project-related" experience in one or more departments for more than five days. Please note that all Bloomington Hospital internships are non-paid, but are often meet credit requirements at local establishments of higher learning.
Volunteer Opportunities
A non-profit hospital relies on its community for ongoing support. Since 1961, we have relied on our volunteers to provide a number of much-needed and valuable services for our patients and staff. Today people of all ages can find fun and educational opportunities to help the community as a volunteer at Bloomington Hospital
Volunteers work in a number of different areas at the hospital. As a volunteer, you may work in the Gift Shop or behind the information desk, or deliver flowers and mail to patients. You may even help out on patient care units, like Critical Care, Cardiovascular Services, and Surgery, greeting visitors and performing clerical duties.
