Program Teaches Health Care Professionals Effective Management Skills

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has launched Leadership Essentials, a new online educational series that provides professionals with the tools to develop and enhance their leadership and supervisory skills.

Featuring 10 modules, the interactive series introduces key strategies for success in health care leadership positions. The modules include colorful images, graphs and charts that engage participants and help reinforce a broad range of management concepts. Topics focus on the fundamentals of supervision, improving communication, leading efficient teams, performance coaching, employment law, accreditation and regulations, quality standards, budgeting and project management.

In addition, the series includes a module that focuses on the five basic principles of change management and how to apply them in the workplace.

According to ASRT Chief Academic Officer Myke Kudlas, M.Ed., R.T.(R)(QM), the series helps new managers adjusting to the role of supervisor and seasoned leaders looking to touch up on specific skills. "Becoming a supervisor or taking on a new leadership role requires a unique set of skills and training," Kudlas said. "Leadership Essentials is an excellent tool to help you hit the ground running."

Radiologic technologists can earn continuing education credit for each module. Participants who successfully complete all the modules will earn 11 CE credits and will receive a document from ASRT recognizing their achievement.

The ASRT also offers a non-CE credit institutional version for administrators, managers and educators who would like to use the series for educational purposes. The package includes 10 modules, a 200-question test bank, transcripts and license for unlimited use in the classroom or institutional setting.
