Electrical safety analyzer
Fluke recently unveiled the ESA609 Electrical Safety Analyzer which tests to ANSI/AAMI ES1, NFPA-99, and parts of IEC62353 and IEC60601-1.
The unit integrates all functions needed to test medical devices when patient lead testing is not required, including: line (mains) voltage, ground wire (protective earth) resistance, equipment current, leakage current and point-to-point tests.
Requiring no training to use, the simple push-button design on the ESA609 ensures quick testing and fast transition between tests for complete basic testing in minutes. Heavy-duty switches allow users to effortlessly change polarity and configuration of the neutral connection between open and closed.
Three digital angiography systems
Shimadzu Medical Systems announced that it has received 510(k) clearance for the company’s new digital angiography family, comprising three systems: the C12 ceiling-mounted system, the F12 floor-mounted system and a new biplane system.
Shimadzu is marketing the system for improved workflow, lower radiation dose and ergonomics.
All systems incorporate Shimadzu’s ultra-high speed SCORE PRO image processing technology, which Shimadzu said enhances fluoroscopic images while maintaining ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) dose considerations for all clinical staff.
As an angiographic interventional system and cardiac interventional system, the systems also provide 3-D application techniques.
New ultrasound system
Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. has introduced the Xario 200. The Xario 200 has a small footprint and weighs just 165 lbs. It is available with Toshiba’s most advanced imaging technologies, including Precision Imaging, Differential Tissue Harmonics and Advanced Dynamic Flow. The system produces superb image quality at depth (up to 40 cm).
Mobile C-arm with flat-panel detector
Siemens Healthcare has announced FDA clearance of the 25 kW power Cios Alpha.
With its new radiographic collimators, the system has a field of view that is up to 25 percent larger than current mobile C-arms. When the surgeon rotates the square image, the system’s new collimators follow automatically, tracking image rotation.
The system can be operated from three identical touch screens – on the C-arm, the mobile workstation, and the table-side control. Operating staff members can use a small image preview integrated into the touch screens that enables easy storage and retrieval of C-arm positions, eliminating manual repositioning. And the system’s vessel overlay software provides a better overview during vascular procedures.
FDA clears new CT
GE Healthcare recently announced FDA 510(k) clearance of its Revolution CT.
The system includes 16 cm whole organ coverage, spatial resolution through the new Gemstone Clarity Detector, and a new gantry designed to image at 0.28s rotation speed and tested to support rotation speeds up to 0.2 sec in the future.
The clinical impact:
- Cardiology: One beat, motion-free cardiac in high definition at any heart rate with or without beta blockers.
- Oncology: Low dose, whole organ diagnosis and follow up of organs enabled by dynamic acquisition modes.
- Neurology: Rapid, comprehensive stroke assessment with whole brain perfusion and dynamic CT angiography at very low dose.
