MIRADA MEDICAL INTRODUCES REGISTRATION ASSURANCE PROGRAM AT AAPM
July 17, 2014
Denver, Colorado: Mirada Medical is introducing Registration AssuranceSM at the annual conference of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) to give clinicians total confidence in deformable registration as they integrate it into clinical practice. The AAPM conference is being held July 20-23 in Austin, Texas and attended by leading medical physicists from around the world. The conference includes a major focus on the increasing integration of advanced imaging technologies such as deformable image registration in the guidance of medical therapeutics.
One of the hottest topics at AAPM this year concerns the increasing growth of Deformable Image Registration (DIR) utilization in Radiation Oncology and the subsequent critical need to evaluate fusion accuracy.
In response, Mirada Medical is announcing Registration AssuranceSM, a comprehensive program for ensuring DIR quality and continuous improvement through rigorous scientific validation of technology, education, comprehensive QC tools and a commitment to ongoing development and support. Mirada recognizes that as medical physicists continue to discuss how to integrate deformable registration into their clinical workflow, they need to be sure that the technology they use can be trusted to provide the best quality of care to the patient.
"Through technology licensing and fusion products, Mirada Medical has been providing the community with high quality deformable image registration since 2002," stated Dr. Timor Kadir, Chief Technology Officer of Mirada Medical. "Registration AssuranceSM demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting the Radiation Oncology community in adopting and developing their use of this important technology."
Within the context of this program, Mirada Medical will be presenting a number of research papers focusing on the scientific validation of its technology including collaborative co-authors from Rush University (US), Duke University (US), Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen), and the Maastro Clinic (Netherlands). These include Evaluation of deformable registration for correcting respiratory motion in 4DCT lung images (SU-E-J-173 Sunday 3-6:00PM room: exhibit hall) which provides results of DIR accuracy on the publically available POPI dataset and The influence of rigid registration on the deformable registration quality in the context of atlas contouring (SU-F-BRF-5 Sunday 4-6:00PM room: ballroom F). In this paper Dr. Mark Gooding, Senior Scientist at Mirada Medical, will highlight the importance of using application specific approaches to DIR and an appropriate rigid initialization to assure the quality of deformable registration.
Mirada Medical will be demonstrating its complete suite of radiotherapy applications, and highlighting its unique Registration AssuranceSM program at AAPM, booth #137. The researchers will be available to discuss their research and answer questions.
