Since 1989, China Med has been growing as an authoritative platform for industry leaders to showcase their latest technological offerings in an engaging, hands-on atmosphere. On March 26, 2015, this year's show will kick off at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, hosting attendees ranging from hospital personnel, clinicians, government officials, medical universities, emergency centers, research institutions, wholesalers, manufacturers, and importers and exporters.

DOTmed News spoke to Axel Bartkus, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai, to get an idea of what this year's event will have in store for attendees and what makes the trip worthwhile for international visitors.

DOTmed News: What are you most excited about China Med 2015?

Axel Bartkus: China Med 2015 will feature many new products and latest technologies, some of them being presented for the first time to the public. That will be one of the highlights. There will also be academic conferences for forward thinkers to share insight into the latest health industry trends.

DOTmed News: How has the growth of China's medical technology market been reflected in recent years at China Med?

AB: Because more products are being produced in China, these new Chinese products add up to the international competition, thus making international competition more intense. The last few years, records have repeatedly been set and broken in number of exhibitors and visitors. Last year we had 545 exhibitors from 22 countries and 29,500 visitors, which is a statement on China's growing health industry significance.

DOTmed News: What results are you expecting this year regarding international visitors?

AB: Every year China Med attracts a lot of visitors from many countries, who visit the show to better understand the situation of the recent developments on the Chinese medical market. This year, we expect even more international visitors from oversea countries than ever before.

DOTmed News: What makes China Med special among medical trade shows?

AB: While also focusing on launching new products and latest technologies, China Med's primary strong point is that it will also exhibit advanced high-class products. It's a unique platform for innovators and thought leaders to share ideas, catch up with old colleagues, and nurture new business partnerships.

DOTmed News: How can U.S. health professionals make the most of a trip to China Med 2015?

AB: They can get to know the current development situation of the Chinese medical industry, as well as the people behind the equipment. They will also be able to purchase products with an outstanding performance-to-price ratio. At last year's event there were $310 million in on-site transactions.
