About OB/Gyn Residency Program

This program is currently designed for eight residents. Your first year of residency will focus primarily on obstetrics with emphasis on both normal and high-risk patients. Additionally you will spend a significant amount of time in gynecological surgery. Your second through forth years will be focused more on surgery with specialty emphasis. Labor & Delivery night call schedule is covered in a two-week block schedule fashion. Residents work under the supervision of thirteen OB/GYN physicians from multiple practices in the Lansing area. This provides a wide diversity of exposure to patient populations.

Residents enjoy their own work/study accommodations, private sleep rooms, and free meals when in house. There is a large private selection OB/GYN references for the residents as well as a fully staffed hospital library with technical support services.

Education

Resident education is a dynamic process at Ingham Regional Medical Center. We are affiliated with the Michigan State University Statewide Campus System and through this benefit from all associated educational opportunities. The most obvious benefit from this affiliation is a monthly day long lecture series specific to OB/GYN held in the Lansing area. In addition we have ½[<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>][<00BD>] day per week of protected educational time for book chapter reviews, resident and attending lectures. Journal Club meets one evening per month usually at a local restaurant. During your residency, time is reserved for you to attend multiple required educational courses and some ACOOG conferences.
