Renee Cruea has been named the new executive director of the Academy of Radiology Research (ARR), succeeding the late Ed Nagy, who passed away unexpectedly last summer. Cruea, the Academy's government relations director since 1998, will also lead ARR's new Coalition for Imaging & Bioengineering Research.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with a group of incredibly dedicated innovators whose volunteer efforts and intense determination has rightfully raised the profile of imaging," Cruea said in an article on the ARR Web site. "I am excited to further the goals of the Academy by placing a human face on the value of imaging and the importance of dedicating research dollars that would enable further development of the technology that enables the early detection, diagnoses, and treatment of various diseases, often non-invasively and without pain."

"The Academy is incredibly fortunate to have had someone so capable and qualified in-house," noted ARR President and ACR Fellow N. Reed Dunnick, M.D. "Renee brings to the job not only a wealth of experience in the imaging community, but also the energy and creativity to lead the Academy to greater heights."
