Alpha Imaging in Ohio has acquired Connecticut-based Medical Imaging Systems (MIS) in a deal that expands its presence throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic region.

The agreement allows Alpha to provide sales and service support for advanced medical imaging equipment to customers in 16 states, and enhance delivery of such equipment to its installed base in and around eastern Pennsylvania.

“For us to accommodate the needs of a hospital system that spans a larger territory, we have to be present in that territory,” Michael A. Perrico, the CEO of Alpha Imaging, told HCB News. “MIS is a very strong and talented team. Their success within the New England states will be contagious and will positively impact our effort in the mid-Atlantic region. Alpha is also becoming more attractive to OEMs who are looking for a strong distribution channel that covers a large population of the U.S.”

MIS employees will experience new protocols that allow them to spend more time with and provide more efficient service to customers as well as changes in human resources and benefits-related items.

The acquisition offers enhanced features to MIS customers, including streamlining of service reports and documentation, as well as more options for customized service agreements. New England customers will also have access to additional resources for sales support, service and applications training.

“As we add products to our portfolio, it will enable us to bundle different imaging modalities in our proposals,” said Perrico. “This, in turn, equates to a better value proposition to our clients.”

Alpha Imaging previously acquired Tristar Midatlantic Imaging in 2013.

Integration between MIS and Alpha is currently taking place. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed at this time.

MIS did not return calls for comment.
