CHICAGO -- In response to the demand for lightweight detectors and compact portable digital X-ray systems, Fujifilm Medical Systems introduced its FDR Go PLUS version DR system.

It was officially launched early last week and was on display at the RSNA annual meeting this week.

“We listened to what our customers are looking for,” Robert Fabrizio, director of strategic marketing for digital X-ray and women’s health at Fujifilm, told HCB News. “It’s easy to maneuver in tight places and has wheels that move quietly.”

The column on the FDR Go PLUS version can be collapsed so clinicians can see directly in front of them when traveling. In addition, the front of the system was designed to be shorter in order to avoid hitting hoses or lines in critical care settings.

It’s equipped with a 19-inch display, large, dedicated storage areas and new workstation software with automated keypad display. Optional features include a user-adjustable drive handle, wireless barcode reader, RFID card reader, the latest Virtual Grid simulation software and Dynamic Visualization II imaging processing.

The system also has a built-in light that indicates the stage of the exam using colors. Green means it’s ready for exposure, yellow means it’s getting ready for exposure and red means that the exposure is being taken.

The FDR Go PLUS version is FDA-cleared, and Fujifilm expects to start shipping the system in early spring.
