WASHINGTON, D.C. -- AdvaMed has announced that Wanda Moebius has joined the Association as vice president, policy communications.

At AdvaMed, Moebius will lead the association's public affairs activities related to Medicare and the diagnostics sector, in addition to a number of other communications priorities. Moebius, a seasoned health care and media relations professional, most recently served as senior director of communications at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

"Wanda joins AdvaMed at a critical time for the medical technology industry with the reauthorization of the Medical Device User Fee and Modernization Act (MDUFMA) pending before Congress, and on-going debates at the federal, state and local levels on the best ways to deliver affordable healthcare to patients," said Mike McGarry, executive vice president for public affairs at AdvaMed. "Communicating how continuing innovation and access to new medical technologies and diagnostics are essential to improving access to quality care and reducing health care costs will be an important part of Wanda's role here."

While at PhRMA, Moebius led the association's outreach efforts to reporters at the state and local level on the importance of access to medicines and continued innovation. Prior to PhRMA, Moebius managed strategic communications campaigns at Dittus Communications and Hill & Knowlton, as well as having served as special assistant for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Defense. Earlier in her career she was a reporter for The Record Herald in Waynesboro, PA. Moebius earned a B.A. in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
