ET-XR: The new integrated patient positioning solution for CT scans
October 16, 2018
October 16, 2018 -- Imalin Medical announces the introduction of Easy Trip XR (ET-XR): an integrated, fast and hygienic positioning solution designed to provide comfort and stability for patients being scanned with their arms overhead.
CT scanners have significantly evolved over the past years: Higher slice systems offer enhanced performance, where high quality images are taken within a few seconds. However, often patients must hold their arms over their head and stay still during their chest-abdomen-pelvis CT scans. Doing so creates patient discomfort and fidgeting, which may lead to distorted images.
In order to get the most out of high-end CT-scanners, an integrated and fast positioning aid for CT scans is surely an asset. It is not an easy undertaking at all to develop an integrated one-size fits all solution for this fast paced, emergency prone environment, with a high number of traumatized and disoriented patients. Under these circumstances retake images must be avoided to minimize delays in diagnosis and treatment and the potential additional exposure to radiation. Moreover, the prevalence of acute, open wounds requires the utmost in standards of hygiene.
The ET-XR is small, convenient and non-obstructive to use. Stable and secure patients are less likely to move during an exam and are more compliant. The ET-XR is radiolucent, rugged and made out of polypropylene which can be cleaned easily without leaving residue, providing reliable protection and thereby increasing the safety and well-being of the patient.
Customer reactions are overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing the superior comfort and patient satisfaction: “It’s just more comfortable to have something to hold onto.” States Mike H., CT Tech. “It sure is more comfortable and easier to remain still with my arms over and behind my head with something to hold onto.” Stated a patient. “It’s a difficult position for patients who don’t feel well to get their arms over their head. Patients wiggle or scratch their nose, or just gradually lower their arms. The images turn out better because patients are better able to stay in one position. If they start out comfortable, they’re more likely to hold still.” Stated Adrienne B., CT Tech. “It’s just too uncomfortable for sustained exams or procedures without something to allow you to be still comfortably.” Stated W. R., CT Tech and Biomedical Engineer.
Designed to maximize workflow efficiency and to offer excellent hygiene and optimum patient comfort, Imalin Medical’s ET-XR is a medical device class 1, FDA listed and available for sale in the US as well as various European and Asian countries.
