Top Orthopaedic Controversies Program for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
August 08, 2007
On September 8, 2007, in New York City, NY, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons will hold its Top Orthopaedic Controversies Program with course Director Edward Akelman, MD. Attendees will examine current controversies and state-of-the-art techniques. Rapid changes in orthopaedic surgery make it vital for you to stay up-to-date on the latest treatment approaches and related controversies -- even if these procedures aren't all performed by you. This course can help you make informed decisions to treat or refer, and prepares you to answer questions about controversial surgeries and current procedures for treating a number of orthopaedic diagnoses.
This one-day course gives you the opportunity to review state-of-the-art techniques with the guidance of an experienced faculty of subspecialty experts. You'll learn how to select patients for treatment and referral, recognize problems, handle complications and risks associated with a variety of treatment approaches, and select viable alternatives for good outcomes.
Video demonstrations give you visual experience with various techniques and procedures, so you can review technical details for performing them and decide which to incorporate into your patient care discussions and decisions. Each focused topic also addresses the physical and occupational therapy needs that accompany your patients' rehabilitation and post-surgical care.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to: evaluate treatment approaches and application to your practice for current orthopaedic controversies; answer patient questions regarding different treatment options for orthopaedic procedures where controversy exists; determine your approach to treating orthopaedic conditions where controversy exists; recognize potential complications and surgical approaches to avoid and treat.
Course participants are required to submit a completed evaluation in order to receive CME Credits. Maximum Enrollment: 100
