The InterMed Group, a provider of health technology management services, has acquired Sigma Imaging Technologies, a New Jersey-based servicer of imaging systems.
The agreement provides existing customers under The InterMed Group, a Granite Bridge Partners company, with the expertise that Sigma holds in the use of MR, CT and PET imaging technology, and enables InterMed to expand its presence across the East coast.
"Sigma has years of experience, highly qualified engineers, and systems and parts capabilities in these modalities that add even more quality and depth to InterMed's abilities in these areas," Rick Staab, CHTM chief executive officer of The InterMed Group, told HCB News. "Sigma has a great reputation and will complement InterMed by allowing for quicker, more efficient services to be provided in MR, CT, and PET to the existing customers on the East Coast. Sigma's years of focus in these modalities now expands the depth of this line of business at InterMed."
Sigma offers preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as MR magnet services and parts repair to providers. It also manufactures and distributes MR, CT, and PET systems across North America, including mobile units, and provides equipment evaluation, refurbishment, installation, removal, relocation and storage services. The company has formed a number of partnerships with clinics and imaging networks throughout the U.S., as well as engaged in multi-vendor collaborations with Siemens and GE.
InterMed's resources enable Sigma to expand nationally and be able to deliver higher-end big iron modalities such as MR and CT throughout the southeast. It provides it with access to strong purchasing power and technical talent for the East coast and other parts of the nation.
In return, InterMed has a base in the Northeast that can expand on trusted relationships built up by Sigma, an asset which will help it as it works to expand its presence into new territories.
"The InterMed Group offers more than 25 years of excellent reputation in the service industry and healthcare technology management, as well as the ability to quickly offer a competitive expansion of the services that each customer may need in the Northeast," said Staab. "InterMed and Sigma have collectively agreed that customers today want a trusted partner that can help them in every area of technology management. Synergistic resources and congruent core values make it easy to see why we are better off together than apart."
